The County Surveyor represents the County in boundary disputes, notifies the County Attorney of any unsettled boundary disputes or boundary discrepancies within the County, and files all surveys, field notes, calculations, maps and any other records pertaining to work authorized and funded by the Board of County Commissioners.

Duties

Represent the County in disputes over County boundaries, notify the County Attorney of unsettled boundary disputes and file all surveys. Position is financed by the Board of County Commissioners.

When authorized, may conduct surveys of County boundaries, accept maps of surveys within the County for filing, and examine all maps and plats before recording with the County Clerk and Recorder.

Can establish disputed boundaries when applied for or at the appointment by the courts.
Can appoint deputies as assistants to discharge their duties faithfully and impartially.

Compensation

The County Surveyor is compensated at the rate of $10 per map, deposited at the County Clerk and Recorder’s Office in accordance with State laws. He also checks the index to see that surveys are properly indexed.
